Considered by many to be the "King" of the hard country vocal stylists. Gene Watson is often cited as the man who started the hard vocal trend that is so prevalent in country music today. Gene's first big break came during the mid 1960´s. He was singing in a nightclub in Houston, TX when a couple of businessmen in the record industry heard him perform one night. Soon afterward Gene was recording songs. His third attempt proved to be a winner. "Love In The Hot Afternoon" was a huge hit in 1975, and is now considered Gene's signature song. To date Gene Watson has over 40 charted recordings to his credit.
